Cruise Along the Dutch Waterways
Welkom aan boord! Elisabeth is debuting in spring, 2025 a new cruise route celebrating Holland at Tulip Time. Captain David and Chef Matthew will bring to the Dutch Waterways the same excellence in handcrafted cuisine, cultural experiences, and onboard pampering for which they are celebrated on the French canals.
Elisabeth will cruise on “living waterways” lined with private homes, adorable gardens, children at play, and lively villages, providing an intriguing glimpse into everyday Dutch life. Fields of tulips in the distance and windmills turning on the horizon add authenticity to the cruise route. Featured excursions to Aalsmeer Flower Auction and Keukenhof Gardens introduce Holland’s important role in growing and selling its abundant floral harvest.
Guests will also experience the Dutch ideal at its most accessible. Tour quaint towns and explore small cities. Sample the freshly made cheeses at a village cheesemonger. Meander through museums featuring the iconic paintings of the Dutch Masters. Finally, an exhibition dedicated to the study of late Medieval witchcraft offers a most memorable view into Holland’s 16th century.
Back onboard Elisabeth, at cocktail hour, Captain David will pour regional spirits and local liqueurs, as well as some of the exceptional elixirs from his Burgundian wine cellar. Meanwhile, Chef Matthew will craft gourmet menus with perhaps a “touch of Dutch” ingredients added to his usual repertoire. With so much to look forward to, the Barge Ladies, Captain David and Chef Matthew are delighted to present Elisabeth in Holland for Spring, 2025.
Unlike barging in other locations, it is not possible to bicycle or walk alongside the vessel as it cruises; however, once moored, active guests can disembark to explore port towns and the surrounding countryside by bicycle or on foot.
