In the afternoon you will be met by a member of the Johanna crew and transferred to the barge moored in the port of Carcassonne. After the traditional champagne welcome and introduction of crew, enjoy a short sunset cruise. There’s time for a walk or bicycle around the port before your first dinner onboard, featuring the best of local produce and wines. End the night with a nightcap under the stars – perhaps lazing in the hot tub, too!

Relax on deck as Johanna cruises through vineyards and villages on the way to our mooring. Your Tour Guide then accompanies you to Carcassonne, the restored and most complete Medieval fortified city in existence. This Gallo-Roman and Medieval architectural masterpieces has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. Walk the ramparts and shop for souvenirs in the cobblestoned pedestrian streets. Return to Johanna where your Chef has been in the kitchen creating another epicurean dinner.

Proceed to a tasting at Chateau Villemagne, an established family-run domaine producing distinctive regional wines. Relive this delightful day over cocktails and dinner onboard.

Walk the village streets, lined with Renaissance-era mansions – a petite time capsule of a rich past. Return to Johanna for aperitifs and another gourmet dinner onboard.

Join the locals who shop for colorful produce, locally produced cheeses and the freshest breads! Then experience lunch right in the market. Your Tour Guide returns you to the barge for an afternoon cruise. Relax on deck and watch canal side villages float by before cocktails and dinner onboard.

Cruise this morning through stunning countryside to the adorable village of Le Somail. One of the most popular villages on the canal, Le Somail welcomes travelers with its bridge over the canal, small boutiques and antique bookstore. Your Tour Guide chauffeurs you to Minerve, a village that clings to a steep hilltop overlooking a scenic valley. Minerve is remembered for its dramatic history as center of the Cathar religious rebellion against the Catholic church. Back on board, Chef is creating a Farewell Feast, where you will re-live your Canal du Midi adventure and end your cruise in style.
